Molenvliet project, Papendrecht, near Rotterdam

Frans van der Werf, architect. 1974

To my knowledge the first full blown support/infill project realized.

The project is set up as an urban tissue in which buildings form courtyards from where access to houses is given.

Because house units have been designed by users, no two floor plans are alike, as can be seen as the documentary drawing made after completion of the project:

Frans van der Werf wrote a book ( in the Dutch language) on designing support buildings titled "Open Ontwerpen" ( Open design )
